DfT announces £50 million in chargepoint funding

It’s hoped the new funding package will help smaller businesses, like B&Bs, install charging infrastructure to help tackle “range anxiety” that some drivers have. Small businesses and those in leasehold and rented accommodation are set to benefit from up to £50 million to install electric vehicle chargepoints.

The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced that the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), which provides up to £350 towards a chargepoint, will continue next year and be expanded to target people in rented and leasehold accommodation. Read more from inteligenttransport.com >

First of new class of green HMM mega-ships arrives at DP World Southampton

The first in a new generation of HMM ships which are among the most environmentally friendly ever built has arrived at DP World’s container terminal at Southampton this week.

GVN calls for biomethane focus in upcoming RTFO reforms

Gas Vehicle NetworkThe Gas Vehicle Network (GVN) is calling for gaseous biofuels (such as biomethane and BioLPG) as low carbon, renewable transport fuels to be central to the Department for Transport’s, DfT’s, anticipated reforms to its Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) policy.

When used in HGVs, biomethane, derived from organic wastes such as food waste and sewage sludge, can typically deliver Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reductions of over 85% compared to diesel and can offer more than 100% GHG savings when the biomethane has been produced from manure.
