The table was dismantled prior to collection and transported to our packing facility, where it was professionally prepared for its long journey. A bespoke wooden crate was custom-built specifically for the table, complete with specialist internal protective packaging to safeguard every component during transit.
IFS arranged an air freight service to deliver the table to Yvonne’s family home in Widgee, a rural community in Queensland, Australia. Despite the remote destination, the shipment was carefully coordinated to ensure a smooth and timely delivery.
Transporting wooden items into Australia can be particularly challenging due to the country’s strict biosecurity regulations, which are designed to prevent the introduction of pests and contaminants. To satisfy these requirements, IFS provided comprehensive documentation detailing the type of wood used, together with information confirming the table’s age and origin.
With the correct documentation in place and careful attention to Australia’s import requirements, the shipment was cleared through Customs without issue. From collection in the UK to final delivery in Australia, the entire journey was completed in approximately two weeks. The table arrived safely and in excellent condition, much to the delight of Yvonne’s Uncle Terry. Having originally belonged to his parents when they married in the 1920s, the table holds significant sentimental value.
