In May 2017 and again in May 2018, Neil took part in a triathlon swim as part of a six-person relay team, raising funds for the Sheffield-based charity Endeavour. The team won several trophies, not only for their achievements in the events but also for raising the highest amount of money.

We asked Neil a few more questions about his work and play…

What kind of customers or businesses do you get to work with? “The core industries we work with are Retail, Automotive, High-Tech, and Industrial, though in reality our day-to-day operations reflect a far broader variety of sectors and shipment types. One job might involve a small, time-critical shipment heading to the US, while another could be a full container load arriving from Asia. No two days are ever the same. We handle everything from important documents to full container shipments — including plastic jerry cans, coffee machines, and countless other products. Occasionally, the work becomes even more unique. We’ve arranged the shipment of oxygen tanks for racehorses from China to Dubai, as well as full-scale Formula One model cars for McLaren”.
What do you love most about your role? “What I love most about the role is its variety — I wear many different hats. One day, I might be organising a shipment of cookery books from China to America; the next, I could be attending a networking event or producing content for an editorial feature in a business publication or a social media post”.
How do you relax when you are not at work? “Outside of work, I enjoy walking in the Peak District with family and friends, as well as swimming and gardening. Spending quality time with family is especially important to me, often involving visits to favourite restaurants and pubs”.

Key Achievement
Neil was selected as one of just 20 candidates from more than 3,000 applicants to take part in a Leadership and Entrepreneurship programme jointly funded by the Chamber of Commerce and Doncaster Council. The experience has enabled him to successfully manage, mentor, coach, and empower multiple teams while leading a variety of projects.
